Google is giving Gmail a notable shopping-focused refresh, introducing two features designed to make inbox management easier and more practical.

The changes target the growing amount of purchase confirmations and promotional offers users receive, aiming to declutter the inbox while making relevant information easier to spot.

The first addition is a brand-new Purchases view. This feature collects all purchase-related emails – such as order confirmations, shipping updates, and delivery notifications – into a single, dedicated interface. Instead of hunting through your inbox, you’ll be able to view an organized list showing all of your upcoming package deliveries. Google emphasizes that this overview provides a clear timeline, so you know what is arriving and when. For items arriving within the next 24 hours, those updates will still appear prominently at the top of your primary inbox, ensuring you don’t miss them. The familiar summary cards within individual purchase emails will also remain available. This new Purchases section is rolling out starting today to personal Gmail users on both web and mobile, although Google has not provided an exact timeline for full global availability.

Meanwhile, the Promotions tab – which many users rely on to filter deals and marketing content – is being redesigned to be more relevant. Instead of simply sorting chronologically, Gmail will now allow you to choose a “most relevant” sort order. This option prioritizes updates from senders and brands you engage with frequently, helping ensure that valuable offers are not buried under a flood of less important promotions. Google is also introducing what it calls “nudges” – subtle reminders highlighting upcoming deals and timely offers, designed to draw attention to opportunities you may otherwise overlook. However, if you prefer the current setup, you can still stick with the traditional “most recent” view, which maintains the chronological order. The updated Promotions tab will begin rolling out to mobile users with personal Gmail accounts in the coming weeks.

These upgrades reflect Google’s effort to adapt Gmail to modern digital shopping habits. With online purchases and email promotions at record levels, organizing this information in smarter ways could save users time while ensuring they don’t miss packages or discounts that matter most.
