Sucker Punch Productions has officially confirmed that Ghost of Yotei Legends, the cooperative multiplayer mode, will be arriving in 2026 as a free expansion for all owners of Ghost of Yotei.
The news was revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, just weeks before the main game launches on October 2, 2025, for PS5 and PS5 Pro.
Much like the beloved Legends mode from Ghost of Tsushima, this new iteration will bring both story-driven co-op and survival-based gameplay. Players will be able to team up in two-player narrative missions or gather a squad of four for survival battles. The twist this time is the introduction of massive demonic versions of the Yōtei Six, accompanied by fresh enemy types designed specifically for this mode.
According to a PlayStation Blog post from Andrew Goldfarb, senior communications manager at Sucker Punch, the mode will feature four unique character classes, allowing players to choose different playstyles while taking on supernatural threats. Concept art shown during the reveal offered a first glimpse at the monstrous foes waiting to challenge players.
While it may be disappointing that the mode won’t be playable until 2026 – and wasn’t available to demo at Gamescom – its announcement strengthens Ghost of Yotei’s position as the true successor to Ghost of Tsushima. The original Legends mode became a fan-favorite surprise, and its return with expanded features is likely to keep the community engaged long after launch.
