Gears of War: Reloaded has barely hit shelves, but The Coalition already pushed out a hefty day-one patch to iron out critical issues across PC and consoles.

The update isn’t just routine – it tackles performance hiccups, crash bugs, and those odd controller quirks that can ruin early impressions.

Players on all platforms should see smoother performance thanks to multiple crash fixes and optimizations. On consoles, the patch resolves a power-saving conflict that previously caused campaign and versus modes to behave unpredictably. A pesky fire texture glitch in the campaign has also been fixed. PC gamers, meanwhile, benefit from a long-overdue remedy for poor frame rates when connecting a DualSense controller, plus improved handheld PC support with more responsive mouse input and corrected sensitivity.

Beyond the bug fixes, quality-of-life tweaks include refined settings behavior and improved support for switching between mouse and keyboard. Handheld players will find input handling much more consistent after this patch.

The remaster itself is ambitious: it reimagines 2015’s Gears of War: Ultimate Edition with modern polish. Expect 4K textures, advanced lighting, shadow and reflection upgrades, HDR and Dolby Vision, ultrawide aspect ratio support, 7.1 surround audio, and up to 144 FPS in multiplayer. PC players can tap into AMD FSR 3.1 and NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 for added performance, while controller remapping and cross-play with cross-progression ensure flexibility across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. This marks the first time the franchise has officially arrived on Sony hardware.

Looking forward, the series isn’t just sticking to games. Hollywood is waiting – though fans eager for the David Leitch-directed Gears of War film will need patience. The adaptation isn’t expected to land before 2027.
