IGN exclusively announces that Paramount Pictures will host a special panel from 11:00am to 12:00pm ET on Friday, October 10, at the Empire Stage in the Javits Center. Joining the panel will be the talented Edgar Wright, along with stars Glen Powell and Lee Pace, offering fans an inside look at this fall’s high-octane theatrical event.

Adapted from Stephen King’s best-selling novel (written under the pen name Richard Bachman), The Running Man is set in a dystopian near-future, where survival is a deadly game. The story follows Ben Richards (played by Glen Powell), a man who becomes a contestant on the world’s most dangerous reality show. To win, he must outlast a team of professional assassins, and avoid death for 30 days. The stakes? A life-changing fortune, but only if he survives the deadly competition.

Ben Richards, an ordinary man with a desperate need to save his sick child, becomes the most unlikely hero. As the deadly game progresses, he quickly shifts from a fan favorite to the target of a corrupt system that profits from the public’s obsession with people fighting for their lives. As the show goes on, Richards’ every move is televised, turning him into both a hero and a symbol of defiance against a system that thrives on violence.

Stephen King’s The Running Man was originally published in 1982, and was previously adapted into a 1987 action movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, Edgar Wright’s new film aims to bring the story closer to King’s original vision. While the 1987 version limited Ben’s escape to a single location, Wright’s take spans the entire U.S., making the stakes even higher and the thrill even greater. Fans of the original novel will be pleased to know that Wright’s adaptation will remain much closer to King’s original vision than the 1987 film. In fact, characters like the show’s executive producer, played by Josh Brolin, and the show’s host, portrayed by Colman Domingo, will be split into two distinct roles, as King had originally intended.

As the film continues to generate buzz, fans can expect an electrifying adaptation that will both satisfy fans of the book and bring a fresh new twist for modern audiences.
