When the sun sets over Walt Disney World, the Magic Kingdom now comes alive in a whole new way. Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away has officially joined the park’s lineup, and it might just be the most enchanting nighttime parade yet.
Debuting on July 20, 2025, Starlight weaves together iconic Disney stories, dazzling lights, and unforgettable music into a 12-minute spectacle that celebrates both nostalgia and fresh imagination.
Inspired by the beloved Main Street Electrical Parade of the 70s and 80s, Starlight tips its hat to the past while blazing its own trail. A brand-new character, Whimsy the Train, pays homage to Casey Junior while leading the way through a dreamscape filled with Moana, Peter Pan, Frozen, Encanto, Pinocchio, and the classic crew of Mickey and friends. The show opens with the Blue Fairy, who transforms her float with a burst of magic, revealing Pinocchio and Geppetto dancing inside – a moment that sets the tone for the wonder to come.
Every float is designed to immerse guests in a specific Disney tale. Music director Tara Anderson explained that the soundtrack was crafted to be ‘ethereal and soaring,’ blending the parade’s main theme with familiar songs from each featured film. For her, music is the heartbeat of the parade: ‘Music is memory. Hearing these songs, we knew we had done something right.’
Audio Systems Design Manager Clint Clarke emphasized the show’s spirit: ‘Starlight is about igniting inspiration. It gives you a nod to the past, but you leave talking about Starlight. It becomes part of the Magic Kingdom’s DNA.’
The parade doesn’t just entertain – it taps into something deeper. It captures the thrill of chasing dreams, the nostalgia of Disney’s heritage, and the excitement of seeing beloved characters shine in an entirely new light. Whether it’s Moana sharing a tender moment with Gramma Tala or Mickey waving from a glittering float, Starlight hits the sweet spot between storytelling and spectacle.
For longtime fans, it recalls the glow of Disney parades past. For new visitors, it sets a benchmark for what a nighttime experience can be. Above all, it proves that magic, when done right, still has the power to bring tears, smiles, and a belief that wishes really do come true.
