Disney Cruise Line has officially begun construction on its fourth Wish-Class ship, marking the occasion with a lively Steel Cutting ceremony in Papenburg, Germany.
The event coincided with the float-out of the Disney Destiny from the Meyer Werft shipyard, freeing up the dry dock where the new vessel will take shape ahead of its planned 2027 debut.
The Wish-Class fleet already includes the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny. While the new ship will share their overall layout, its interior spaces are expected to feature unique touches and themed experiences, as seen with its sister ships. For example, the Disney Treasure boasts the Plaza de Coco dining venue, while the Destiny offers the Lion King-inspired Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King.
During the ceremony, Captain Mickey led a countdown before pressing a large red button to start the laser cutter, slicing steel for the first sections of the ship. One piece, shaped like a cruise liner, was signed by the project team and will eventually become a permanent piece of the vessel’s décor.
Although details about the newcomer remain under wraps, the Destiny’s upcoming features give a taste of what fans might expect: Worlds of Marvel, Edna A La Mode Sweets inspired by The Incredibles, a Broadway-style Hercules show, De Vil’s Piano Bar, The Haunted Mansion Parlor, Pirates of the Caribbean’s Cask & Cannon, Doctor Strange’s Sanctum, and more. The Destiny will embark on its maiden voyage on November 20, 2025, sailing from Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades.
For Disney, the simultaneous milestones highlight a growing investment in cruise experiences, expanding their storytelling beyond the theme parks and into the open seas.
