For years, fans have been clamoring for CAPCOM to resurrect Dino Crisis, the cult survival horror series that mixed dinosaurs with the tension of Resident Evil.
According to insider Dusk Golem, that almost happened – twice. Both attempts, however, ended up in the scrap heap due to poor results.
The first remake project reportedly came from CAPCOM Vancouver, before the studio was shut down. A second, unnamed internal CAPCOM team also took a shot at reviving Regina’s dino nightmare a few years later, but quality concerns doomed that version as well. Neither project ever made it to the public eye.
Still, the story doesn’t end there. In early 2025, the franchise was re-trademarked in Japan and Brazil. In Brazil, the filing coincided with CAPCOM registering Resident Evil Requiem, raising speculation that something concrete may be in motion. In the gaming industry, trademarks often hint at genuine plans, not just legal housekeeping.
Meanwhile, older fans can revisit the chaos of Isla Sorna thanks to the recent GOG re-release of Dino Crisis and its sequel. These updated versions feature modern enhancements like 4K resolution, 32-bit color depth, anti-aliasing, improved animation, cloud saves, and more – making it the smoothest way yet to replay the classics.
Whether the new trademarks signal a true comeback or just another false alarm, the appetite for a Dino Crisis revival is undeniable. A survival horror icon with dinosaurs deserves more than to be left in the fossil record.
