Chibi-Robo! Joins Nintendo Switch Online’s GameCube Library

Chibi-Robo! is making its way to the Nintendo Switch Online’s GameCube library, and fans are excited.

The quirky puzzle-platformer, originally released in 2006, will be available to play on the new Nintendo Switch 2 starting August 21, 2025. This marks the second addition to the GameCube collection since the Switch 2’s launch in June, with the first being Super Mario Strikers (or Mario Smash Football in Europe).

Nintendo Switch Online is a subscription-based service that lets players compete, cooperate, and enjoy a collection of classic Nintendo games across multiple consoles. In addition to online multiplayer functionality, the service offers titles from the NES, SNES, Game Boy, Nintendo 64, and the latest addition: the GameCube library. A free seven-day trial is available for those who want to test it out before committing.

Currently, the GameCube library includes gems like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, Soulcalibur 2, and Super Mario Strikers, with more games rumored to join the lineup, including Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion, and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. Fans can also enjoy a replica GameCube controller for that extra touch of nostalgia.

Chibi-Robo! made waves back in 2006, earning an IGN Editor’s Choice award and an 8.2/10 rating. Critics loved its unique charm, with IGN praising the game for being “weird” and “cute,” yet “very enjoyable, fun, and rewarding.” Although the game might not appeal to everyone, it’s definitely one worth experiencing if you haven’t already.

As for the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s off to a solid start, with 3.5 million units sold. However, some analysis suggests that while Nintendo’s own games are doing great, third-party titles have seen mixed success in terms of sales during the console’s launch window.
