Cal Kestis, the fan-favorite Jedi from EA and Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi video games, is about to jump into a new galaxy. The redheaded Jedi Knight will make his animated debut in the upcoming episodes of Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, landing on Disney+ September 19.
This marks the first time Cameron Monaghan voices Kestis outside of a video game, adding another chapter to the character’s growing presence across Star Wars media.
Rebuild the Galaxy is a non-canon, ‘What If?’-style spin-off where anything can happen-this is the series that already gave us Darth Jar-Jar, after all. Now, with Kestis joining the chaos, fans are curious if this playful appearance could be a hint at bigger things to come. Monaghan himself has said he’s open to playing Cal in live-action but insists it must serve the story meaningfully. As he put it, he doesn’t want Cal to just “stand around and be there.”
Kestis has already branched out far beyond his original games. There’s the novel Jedi: Battle Scars, his inclusion in the mobile game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, and even a BD-1 droid cameo in The Book of Boba Fett. In Ahsoka, we saw Jedi psychometry in action-a Force ability tied closely to Cal in the games-fueling speculation that his story might overlap with other fan favorites.
Whether this Lego adventure is just Disney having fun or a breadcrumb trail toward Cal’s eventual live-action debut, the excitement is undeniable. For now, fans can look forward to a tongue-in-cheek, brick-built Star Wars tale where Cal Kestis steps outside Respawn’s canon adventures and into a wilder sandbox of possibilities.
