ASUS ROG Super Kill 27 Pro: The World’s First 720Hz OLED Monitor with LG’s 4th-Gen RGB Tandem Technology
ASUS has once again raised the bar for gaming monitors with its upcoming ROG Super Kill 27 Pro – a flagship display that pushes refresh rate boundaries to a staggering 720Hz. This model integrates LG’s 4th-generation RGB Tandem OLED panel, marking a significant leap in both speed and display technology.
Two months ago, LG showcased its 4th-gen OLED, also known as the Primary RGB Tandem OLED, featuring four stacked organic layers of red, green, and blue elements – one more than the traditional three-layer architecture used in the previous generation
. This addition results in greater brightness efficiency, improved lifespan, and enhanced uniformity across the panel. The tech giant also teased a prototype 720Hz OLED panel during the same event, and now that innovation finds its way into ASUS’s next-generation monitor.
Although LG’s own UltraGear 27GX700A was technically the first product to use this advanced OLED generation, it maxed out at 280Hz at 1440p. The ROG Super Kill 27 Pro, however, takes a bold step forward as the first monitor to feature a 720Hz refresh rate – albeit at 720p – while also supporting 540Hz at 1440p. This dual-mode configuration highlights ASUS’s dedication to balancing performance and visual fidelity, offering gamers the choice between ultra-high frame rates or sharper resolution.
ASUS’s China General Manager, Tony, confirmed that the monitor will debut in early November 2025. According to leaked slides, it features DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20 connectivity, ensuring flawless signal throughput even at extreme refresh rates. Additionally, several USB ports are included for peripheral connectivity, catering to modern gaming setups. 
The ROG Super Kill 27 Pro carries True Black HDR 500 certification, delivering vivid contrasts and accurate dark scenes – a hallmark of OLED performance. With a response time of just 0.02ms, ASUS promises virtually zero motion blur, making this display an elite contender for competitive esports players.
In terms of design and model naming, the display will carry the label PG27AQWP-W globally but will be branded in China as ROG Super Kill 27 Pro. Its retail price is set at 8,499 Yuan (approximately $1,193 USD), a premium tag that reflects both the experimental nature of the technology and the elite target audience. For enthusiasts who crave cutting-edge refresh rates and OLED clarity, this monitor may well define what the next generation of esports visuals looks like.
However, not everyone is convinced by the 720Hz@720p configuration. Some argue it’s more of a tech showcase than a practical standard, especially when higher resolutions like 1440p and 4K are now mainstream. Still, ASUS’s decision to push refresh rates this high demonstrates the relentless pace of display evolution – a preview of where competitive gaming might be headed in the next few years.
Whether this ultra-fast OLED becomes a must-have or just another expensive curiosity will depend on how it performs in real-world conditions.
