ASUS ROG Matrix RTX 5090 30th Anniversary Edition: Extreme Power, Divisive Looks

ASUS has revived its legendary Matrix line to celebrate 30 years of innovation, unveiling the ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 “30th Anniversary Edition”.

This GPU is nothing short of extreme – pushing cooling, power delivery, and design to a level few consumer cards have ever reached.

The card embraces ASUS’s classic red-and-black styling, now paired with an aggressive quad-fan setup. Three fans dominate the front while a fourth at the back creates a push-pull effect, maximizing airflow and reducing heat buildup. It’s also decked out with Aura lighting and an ARGB infinity mirror etched with the Matrix logo, turning the card into both a powerhouse and a showpiece.

Under the hood, ASUS has integrated its BTF design, enabling a near cable-free look when paired with compatible motherboards. Thanks to the GC-HWPR 2.5 connector, the card can pull an enormous 800W, boosting performance by up to 10% – a figure that pushes the boundaries of what even the most hardcore gamers expect. For durability and overclocking potential, the PCB uses a 3 Oz copper layer for stronger heat dissipation and lower voltage drops. Liquid metal TIM and a vapor chamber further ensure peak thermal performance.

Factory-tuned with a massive 323 MHz overclock, the RTX 5090 Matrix hits an eye-watering 2730 MHz max boost on its OC BIOS. Measuring a huge 357.6 x 149.3 x 76 mm and taking up 3.8 slots, this card is as monstrous physically as it is technically. Production, however, will be very limited – only around 1000 units will ever be made, with pricing expected north of $2500.

Despite its specs, the design has divided fans. While some admire the technical marvel, others are already calling it bulky, overpriced, and even unattractive. With GPU power creeping toward 1000W, the Matrix RTX 5090 30th Anniversary feels less like a standard consumer card and more like a statement: ASUS can still push boundaries, whether people like the looks or not.
