Apple’s iconic smartwatch may finally be ready for a bold redesign in 2026, after years of sticking to the same familiar look. According to a fresh DigiTimes report citing supply chain sources, a high-end Apple Watch model is expected to introduce major exterior changes.

One of the most intriguing details is a new sensor layout: up to eight sensors arranged in a ring beneath a glass panel on the underside of the watch.

The redesign could debut with the Apple Watch Series 12 or the Apple Watch Ultra 4. Both are rumored to arrive next year, following the launch of the Series 11 this fall. More sensors make sense, as Apple has been steadily expanding its health and fitness toolkit. Among the most anticipated features is a blood pressure monitoring alert system. While it might appear in the Series 11, many expect it to be introduced in the 2026 lineup if the technology isn’t ready in time.

The upcoming Series 11 is also tipped to support Apple Intelligence, potentially unlocking smarter health management. However, given the limited RAM inside the watch itself, experts believe much of the processing will likely rely on the paired iPhone to deliver those features smoothly.

Still, caution is warranted. DigiTimes has a mixed record on predictions, and while the idea of a long-awaited redesign is exciting, nothing is guaranteed. That said, Apple has a history of aligning product overhauls across its ecosystem. With rumors of the iPhone 17 Pro undergoing a significant redesign, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Apple Watch follows suit.

For now, fans will need to wait and see if 2026 finally brings a new look to Apple’s most recognizable wearable – one that hasn’t really changed much since the very first model.
