Apple is preparing a major leap forward for Siri with an upgraded version of App Intents, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. While the revamped Siri was first teased at WWDC 2024, its launch was delayed earlier this year without a clear release date.

Now, Gurman reports that the enhanced voice assistant is expected to arrive in Spring 2026, featuring far more advanced app control through voice commands alone.

The improved App Intents framework will let Siri handle complex, multi-step tasks across apps – entirely hands-free. For example, you could tell Siri to find a specific photo, edit it, and send it to a friend, or open Instagram, like a post, and leave a comment, all without touching the screen.

Apple is currently testing this technology internally, ironing out bugs, and working with a range of popular third-party apps such as Amazon, Threads, YouTube, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Uber. The aim is to make Siri capable of interacting with apps much like a human user would. However, for sensitive areas like banking and health apps, Apple will impose strict limitations on Siri’s capabilities to ensure security and privacy.

If successful, the upgraded Siri could mark one of the biggest steps forward in voice-based control since the assistant’s debut, bringing iPhone users closer to a true AI-powered hands-free experience.
