Apple iPhone Fold Could Arrive in 2026 With Samsung-Made OLED Panels

Reports from South Korea suggest that Samsung Display is preparing to begin large-scale production of foldable OLED panels for a major U.S. client, with strong indications pointing to Apple as the mysterious customer. This move could finally pave the way for the much-discussed foldable iPhone, which industry insiders have dubbed the iPhone Fold.

If current timelines hold, Apple may reveal its first foldable device in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 series, though as with many Apple projects, the schedule could still change.

The information reportedly comes from Samsung Display president Lee Cheong, who confirmed that the company is ready to ramp up mass production of flexible OLED panels tailored for foldable smartphones. While Cheong refrained from naming the client, Apple has long been rumored to be experimenting with foldable prototypes, making the connection a likely one. Samsung already dominates the foldable display market with its Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip devices, and supplying Apple would further solidify its position as the leading panel maker in this next-generation category.

Leaks about Apple’s foldable iPhone paint an ambitious picture. The device is expected to feature a 5.5-inch external cover display and an expansive 7.8-inch internal folding screen, placing it in direct competition with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series.
