Apple is preparing to shake up the way people carry their iPhones with a surprising new accessory: the magnetic Crossbody Strap. Leaked packaging for the upcoming iPhone 17 TechWoven cases revealed references to the strap, hinting at an official debut soon.
The Crossbody Strap is rumored to use a fully magnetic design, reinforced with a flexible metal core running through its length. Instead of traditional clips or loops, the strap attaches to the case magnetically, with polarized ends that lock securely. The result is a seamless, hook-free connection designed for quick attachment and removal.
Beyond the strap, Apple is making wider changes to its accessories. The TechWoven cases are expected to replace the short-lived FineWoven line, offering improved durability. New silicone cases will also feature lanyard holes, much like the AirPods Pro 2 case. These tweaks show Apple leaning further into practical design while maintaining a sleek aesthetic.
Interestingly, leaks suggest the strap may also support the upcoming AirPods Pro 3 case, though its size and exact functionality remain unclear. The term “crossbody” implies something more substantial than a lanyard – potentially offering hands-free convenience similar to a sling bag, but with Apple’s signature minimalist touch.
If accurate, the Crossbody Strap could represent Apple’s most unusual accessory in years. Whether fans embrace it or dismiss it as gimmicky remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Apple is experimenting with new ways to make carrying your iPhone both stylish and secure.
