Guild Wars 2 fans have a brand-new realm to explore as ArenaNet officially releases its sixth major expansion, Visions of Eternity.
Available now on PC, this ambitious update transports players to the mysterious island of Castora – a lush, uncharted paradise filled with new dangers, secrets, and opportunities that expand the world of Tyria like never before.
The story begins with cryptic whispers about Castora, an island steeped in powerful magic and long lost to time. The Tyrian Alliance soon gets involved after discovering that the ruthless Inquest has taken an interest in the island’s strange energies. What follows is a gripping new narrative that will see players uncover Castora’s ancient mysteries while battling to prevent the Inquest from harnessing its forbidden power. The expansion’s tone is both adventurous and ominous – perfect for veterans eager for lore and exploration alike.
Visions of Eternity introduces two expansive new maps – Shipwreck Strand and Starlit Weald – each crafted with remarkable attention to atmosphere and verticality. Players can expect treacherous coastlines littered with sunken ships, glowing jungles under eternal twilight, and magical storms that reshape the land. ArenaNet has reimagined the skimmer mount, giving it new traversal mechanics ideal for Castora’s aquatic and aerial environments. There’s also a customizable homestead plot, new legendary equipment, and challenging raid encounters that test coordination and strategy.
Game director Josh Davis emphasized the significance of this release, calling Castora “a completely new frontier for every player – a setting that lets us push our systems and storytelling in ways we’ve never done before.” He noted that the team wanted the expansion to feel both fresh and thematically consistent with Guild Wars 2’s evolving world. New boss battles, abilities, and seasonal rewards will keep players busy long after launch, and ArenaNet has promised a series of free content updates throughout 2026 to expand the story further.
At a price of $24.99, Visions of Eternity feels like both a nostalgic return to Guild Wars 2’s sense of adventure and a bold step into its next era. The island of Castora stands as a symbol of renewal – proof that even after more than a decade, Tyria still holds new wonders waiting to be discovered.
