Samsung is once again ready to redefine what a smartphone can be. Just hours before its official debut, the long-rumored Galaxy Z TriFold is set to make waves at the prestigious K-Tech Showcase, held alongside the APEC Summit in Gyeongju, South Korea.
This isn’t just another foldable – it’s the culmination of years of experimentation with flexible display technology, now reaching its most ambitious stage: a triple-folding smartphone designed to replace both your phone and tablet.
Security at Samsung’s APEC booth has been dialed up to maximum. According to reports from Hankyung, Samsung stationed guards at every access point, ensuring that no leaks occur before the grand unveiling. Visitors will only be allowed to view the Galaxy Z TriFold from behind a glass enclosure, emphasizing how tightly controlled this reveal is.
What makes the TriFold truly revolutionary is its engineering. The device unfolds into a 10-inch OLED display – larger than the Galaxy Fold 7’s 8-inch panel – offering a full tablet experience when fully extended. When folded, users can rely on a compact 6.5-inch outer display. Samsung’s U-shaped hinge mechanism ensures better screen protection compared to rival designs, notably avoiding the mixed inward-outward fold seen on Huawei’s Mate XT. This design choice also contributes to long-term durability, reinforced by a titanium shell that should handle years of folding without compromise.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z TriFold packs serious power: Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, a triple-battery system totaling over 5,000mAh, and a 200-megapixel primary camera capable of 100x zoom. In short, it’s not just flexible – it’s a powerhouse. Samsung reportedly aims to bring the device to multiple markets, including the US, UAE, and Vietnam, though its rumored price tag of $2,800 has already sparked fierce debate among tech fans.
Some see it as the natural evolution of mobile computing, bridging the gap between smartphone and tablet. Others view it as overkill – luxury tech for the few. But regardless of opinion, one thing is certain: with the Galaxy Z TriFold, Samsung isn’t just folding displays anymore – it’s unfolding the future of mobile design.
