Huawei seems ready to expand its flagship lineup with a new addition – the Huawei Mate 70 Air. Recently spotted on the China Telecom website, the listing not only confirms the phone’s existence but also unveils its design, specifications, and potential market direction.

The ‘Air’ suffix clearly hints at a focus on lightness and sleekness, although fans are already debating whether it truly deserves that label.

According to the listing, the Mate 70 Air carries the model number SUP-AL90 and will feature a large 6.9-inch display powered by HarmonyOS 5. The design reveals a signature circular rear camera module that houses three sensors – including what appears to be a periscope telephoto lens. Up front, Huawei opts for a pill-shaped cutout, possibly integrating a selfie camera with advanced 3D face recognition capabilities, showing that the brand continues to invest heavily in biometric tech.

The phone reportedly comes in multiple configurations, with up to 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB. It’s expected to launch in three distinct color variants – Golden Black, Feather White, and Gold Silver Brocade – designed to appeal to both business and style-conscious buyers. While many users have compared the design to the Lumia 1020 and iPhone X, Huawei appears to be walking a fine line between premium familiarity and subtle innovation.

Although not much is known about the chipset yet, it’s clear Huawei aims to compete directly with the latest ‘Air’ phones from other major brands.
