The Samsung Galaxy A73, launched back in 2022, is finally getting its last major Android update – a bittersweet milestone for loyal users. Samsung’s One UI 8 rollout continues to reach more devices, and the A73 has now joined the party. This update pushes the phone to Android 16, completing Samsung’s promise of four major OS upgrades that began with Android 12.
After this, the A73 won’t see any more big Android version jumps, though smaller security and stability patches may still arrive.
The new firmware, version A736BXXUAGYJ1, weighs around 2.5GB and comes bundled with the September 2025 security patch. While it’s technically a bit late by calendar standards, the update still brings improved optimization, smoother animations, and a refined interface that better matches the design language of Samsung’s 2025 flagships. It also introduces updated privacy tools and extended AI-based features previously seen in newer Galaxy models.
Currently, the rollout has begun across several Asian markets including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Samsung typically staggers its updates, so users in other regions should expect it soon. For those eager to install, simply go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Even though this marks the end of major OS updates, the Galaxy A73 still holds its ground as one of Samsung’s best mid-range phones from its era – outlasting many 2022 competitors that stopped receiving updates years earlier. Some users speculate that One UI 8.5 might still land as a refinement update next year, potentially extending the phone’s longevity a bit further.
