Huawei nova Flip S: Fresh Colors, Familiar Charm, and a Lower Price Tag

Huawei has officially unveiled the nova Flip S in China, a stylish evolution of its compact foldable line that refines design, expands color options, and drops the price – signaling Huawei’s determination to make foldables more accessible.

The nova Flip S arrives less than a year after the original nova Flip, launched in August 2024, and while the core hardware remains familiar, the new model adds flair and practicality where it counts.

Available in six eye-catching colors – Feather Black, White, Azure Blue, Green, Soft Pink, and Star Black – the nova Flip S immediately stands out for those who value personalization. More impressively, Huawei has reduced the entry price to just CNY 3,388 (around $475) for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration, positioning it as one of the most affordable foldable smartphones in China today. For a market dominated by premium pricing, that’s a bold move.

Inside, the nova Flip S is powered by an unnamed Kirin 8-series processor, believed to be the new Kirin 8030, offering a modest performance bump over the Kirin 8000 used in its predecessor. The phone retains the familiar dual-display setup – a 6.94-inch LTPO OLED main screen with FHD+ resolution and adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate, complemented by a 2.14-inch OLED cover screen for notifications and quick interactions.

On the photography side, the nova Flip S features a 50MP main camera with a large 1/1.56-inch RYYB sensor and f/1.9 aperture, alongside an 8MP ultrawide and a 32MP selfie camera. Powering it all is a 4,400mAh battery supporting 66W fast charging. The phone runs HarmonyOS 5.1 out of the box, bringing smoother animations and tighter ecosystem integration across Huawei’s devices.

With its blend of premium design, practical specs, and an unexpectedly aggressive price tag, the Huawei nova Flip S represents a confident step in making foldables mainstream in China. It may not revolutionize the category, but it definitely makes it harder for competitors to justify higher prices.
