Poco F8 Ultra (Redmi K90 Pro) Camera Leaks Reveal Massive Upgrades
The K90 Pro’s unveiling in China seems imminent as the K80 Pro nears its one-year anniversary, and leaks now suggest that Xiaomi is doubling down on camera hardware across the board.

According to multiple reports, the Redmi K90 Pro and its international twin, the Poco F8 Ultra, will share a new 1/1.3-inch main camera sensor – most likely the same unit found in the recently launched Xiaomi 17. This massive sensor, paired with an f/1.7 aperture and a 23mm focal length, promises improved low-light performance and enhanced depth thanks to built-in optical image stabilization (OIS). Compared to last year’s 1/1.55-inch sensor in the K80 Pro and Poco F7 Ultra, this represents a significant leap forward in light capture and detail retention. Sources claim it’s an OmniVision-developed sensor with Xiaomi’s own Light Fusion branding – a move that hints at tighter hardware-software integration for image processing.

Even more intriguing is the rumored periscope telephoto camera. It’s said to feature a 1/2.76-inch sensor, possibly Samsung’s ISOCELL JN5, capable of delivering 2.5x to 3x optical zoom. If true, this marks the first time a Poco flagship gains such advanced zoom capabilities, with speculation that it could even function as a telephoto macro lens – a feature usually reserved for pricier devices.

The ultrawide shooter is also expected to receive a substantial upgrade, potentially switching to OmniVision’s OV50M 50MP sensor with a 1/2.88-inch size. That’s a notable step up from the previous generation’s 32MP 1/3.42-inch ultrawide unit, ensuring sharper detail and wider dynamic range. Together, these changes suggest Xiaomi’s focus on closing the gap with flagship camera phones from Samsung and Google – and giving Poco a new identity as a camera-first performance brand.

Still, not everyone is convinced. Some users online are skeptical about Xiaomi offering nearly the same camera setup as its more expensive Xiaomi 17, minus the Leica tuning. Others express concern about battery capacity and regional downgrades in global versions – a recurring complaint among Poco enthusiasts. Rumors mention a 7,000mAh battery for the Chinese variant, while the global Poco F8 Ultra could see around 6,500mAh with 100W fast charging. If pricing lands near the current F7 Ultra’s range, Xiaomi could have another best-seller on its hands – assuming it doesn’t compromise on optimization this time.

With the camera system likely mirroring high-end Xiaomi models and power specs that border on flagship territory, the Poco F8 Ultra might finally deliver on the promise of a true ‘flagship killer’ – but only if the company gets the global version right.

tbh if they really add that 3x periscope zoom and keep the price under 600€, it’s gonna be a killer deal 🔥
