Ubisoft has officially unveiled Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Valley of Memory, a completely free DLC expansion that will take players back to the 9th century in an adventure filled with secrets, desert landscapes, and a deeply personal quest for the protagonist, Basim.
Scheduled for release on November 18, 2025, this update promises not only new lands to explore but also new gameplay systems and long-requested features that fans have been asking for since launch.
The new region, AlUla, will transport players to one of the most legendary oases along the ancient Incense Road – a historic artery that connected Arabia to the Mediterranean during the Golden Age of the Abbasid Empire. Ubisoft collaborated closely with historians and archaeologists to ensure a faithful recreation of this thriving trade hub, where sandstone cliffs hide ancient tombs and bustling markets echo with the voices of travelers and merchants from distant lands. Every corner of AlUla has been designed to feel alive, reflecting the cultural blend that defined the era.
The Valley of Memory DLC centers around Basim’s emotional search for his father, weaving new narrative layers into his coming-of-age journey. While Mirage originally told the story of Basim’s transformation into a Master Assassin, this expansion focuses on his roots and inner conflicts, bringing a more introspective tone to the Assassin’s Creed universe. Alongside the main storyline, players can expect new contracts, side missions, and a brand-new faction of Robbers that disrupt trade routes and test Basim’s stealth and combat mastery.
Ubisoft is also expanding the game’s mechanics. Fans will finally gain the ability to replay missions freely, one of the most requested features since release. Tool upgrades will receive a new tier, while the parkour system has been refined with smoother transitions and the addition of manual jumping – giving veterans more precision in movement. AlUla’s northern region, less urbanized than Baghdad, introduces vertical exploration across cliffs and caves, rewarding players who master stealth in more natural environments.
Interestingly, when Assassin’s Creed Mirage first launched, no DLC was originally planned. The decision to create Valley of Memory emerged after the game’s unexpectedly warm reception and thanks to Ubisoft’s partnership with Savvy Games Group, a gaming investment arm of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). This collaboration not only provided financial backing but also cultural insight for the AlUla setting. Notably, the same PIF is among the lead investors moving toward acquiring Electronic Arts (EA) in a significant industry shake-up. With Valley of Memory, Ubisoft seems determined to bridge historical authenticity with modern storytelling, expanding Basim’s legend while honoring the roots of the series.
