Huawei has quietly introduced another member of its nova 14 family, the nova 14i. At first glance it may appear to be a fresh addition, but in reality the device is more of a renamed veteran. 
Those who followed Huawei’s lineup in 2023 will immediately recognize its DNA: the nova 14i is essentially a rebranded version of the Huawei Enjoy 60X, also known in some markets as the nova Y91. Rather than a revolutionary new product, it’s more of a familiar package with a refreshed label and a slightly tweaked palette, this time available in black and blue finishes.
The hardware confirms this impression. The nova 14i carries a 6.95-inch LCD panel with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. While the size and resolution are decent for multimedia, the screen does feature a rather noticeable notch housing the 8MP selfie camera and the earpiece. Interestingly, Huawei advertises Always-on Display functionality here, despite the panel being LCD rather than OLED – a feature many users might find unusual, if not questionable, given the limitations of LCD technology when it comes to energy efficiency and black levels.
Under the hood, the nova 14i relies on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 chipset, a processor that first appeared back in 2021. It’s paired with a 50MP main rear sensor and a basic 2MP depth sensor, which keeps the photography setup fairly minimal compared to rivals. The phone runs EMUI 14.2 out of the box, while its true highlight remains the enormous 7,000mAh battery. That capacity is well above the average for mid-range phones, though the 22.5W wired charging speed is modest by today’s fast-charging standards.
Ultimately, the nova 14i seems designed for users who prioritize battery longevity and a large display above cutting-edge performance. For others, the dated chipset, the big notch, and the unusual LCD AOD implementation may raise eyebrows. Huawei has not yet announced official pricing or availability details, leaving the market to speculate whether this rebrand will be competitively positioned or simply another placeholder in the company’s crowded portfolio.
