Realme is preparing a significant step forward in its GT lineup, and the upcoming Realme GT 8 series is shaping up to be one of the brand’s most ambitious releases yet. Scheduled for an October launch, the series will consist of a vanilla GT 8 and a GT 8 Pro. While the Pro model has received most of the spotlight thanks to its cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, the vanilla GT 8 has now surfaced in Geekbench results, providing enthusiasts with a first look at what to expect from the standard edition.
The Realme GT 8, identified under the model code RMX6699 for the Chinese market, is powered by Qualcomm’s original Snapdragon 8 Elite platform.
Early Geekbench 6.5.0 scores show performance in line with expectations for this chipset, and the tested model featured an impressive 16GB of RAM. While 12GB will likely remain the base option, the higher memory configuration signals that Realme is still targeting performance-oriented users, even with the non-Pro variant.
An unusual detail is that the Geekbench test was conducted on Android 15, despite Realme already working on Android 16 paired with Realme UI 7.0. Industry insiders believe this could indicate internal testing or placeholder software rather than the final launch configuration. For context, the GT 8 Pro is expected to ship with Android 16 out of the box, giving buyers the latest OS and Realme’s refreshed interface right away.
Charging capabilities have also been confirmed through a 3C certification in China, showing support for 100W wired charging. Comparisons with the previous GT 7 suggest that regional differences could again play a role. In China, the GT 7 carried a 7,200mAh Si/C battery with 100W wired-only charging, while global models had a slightly smaller 7,000mAh capacity but faster 120W charging. It wouldn’t be surprising if Realme repeats this regional strategy with the GT 8 lineup.
The real star, however, will be the GT 8 Pro. Officially confirmed to feature Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the chip promises a 20% CPU uplift compared to its predecessor, making it one of the fastest Android phones expected this year. Realme has also teased a QHD display and a massive 200MP primary camera, suggesting that the Pro edition is designed to rival flagship phones from Samsung, Xiaomi, and OnePlus in both raw power and imaging.
While Realme has yet to confirm official details for the vanilla GT 8 beyond its chipset, the device looks to offer a more affordable entry point into the GT 8 family, retaining strong specs without reaching Pro-level prices. Early signs point to another aggressive performance-focused release, consistent with Realme’s history of positioning its GT series as value-driven performance flagships. Whether the GT 8 can maintain strong battery life and better camera performance – common concerns raised by long-time Realme users – remains to be seen.
As we move closer to October, more leaks and teasers are expected, but for now the Geekbench appearance provides the first real-world evidence that the GT 8 series is nearly ready for prime time.
