The upcoming iQOO 15 has stormed into the spotlight after appearing on Geekbench with numbers that smash previous Android records. The prototype handset, powered by Qualcomm’s unreleased Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, clocked in at an eye-popping 3,824 single-core and 12,402 multi-core score.
For context, this comfortably outpaces nearly every competitor, highlighting just how aggressively vivo’s gaming-focused sub-brand is pushing the envelope.
The tested device came equipped with 16GB of RAM and ran Android 16, strongly suggesting the iQOO 15 will launch with Google’s newest OS. Storage options have not been confirmed yet, but given iQOO’s track record, multiple RAM and ROM variants will almost certainly be on the table. Beyond raw performance, design flourishes are also being teased: the handset is expected to feature an LED light ring around its camera module, an eye-catching addition aimed at gamers and streamers alike.
On the display side, leaks point toward a Samsung-made QHD+ AMOLED panel with ultra-high refresh rates, cementing the phone’s credentials as a true flagship gaming device. Camera fans will find plenty to celebrate too: three 50MP sensors are rumored, including a periscope telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom. Powering all of this is an enormous 7,000 mAh battery, a capacity rarely seen in premium phones, hinting that endurance will match its raw speed.
But the real ace up iQOO’s sleeve could be its self-developed Q3 gaming chip. According to early leaks, this silicon will introduce full-scene ray tracing to mobile gaming, with Genshin Impact named as the showcase title. If true, it would mark the first time any smartphone – not even Apple’s iPhones – has achieved this feat natively. Such a move signals iQOO’s ambition to position the 15 not just as another Android flagship, but as a genuine handheld console alternative.
The Q3 is set to be officially detailed on September 23, coinciding with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 announcement. That alignment is unlikely to be accidental, hinting at a deep collaboration. A full launch event for the iQOO 15 is expected shortly after, making the next few weeks pivotal for vivo’s performance-driven brand.
