Poco has officially confirmed the arrival of its more affordable 4GB RAM variant of the Poco M7 Plus 5G in India, putting it in direct competition with entry-level 5G smartphones. Priced at INR 12,999 (roughly $150), this new model will be available from September 23, offering 128GB of internal storage and three color choices: Aqua Blue, Carbon Black, and Chrome Silver.
While the lower RAM might raise eyebrows, the rest of the phone’s specifications remain identical to the higher RAM versions.
At its core, the device runs on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset, designed to balance efficiency and performance for casual gaming and daily multitasking. The phone boasts a massive 7,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery, which stands out in this segment, paired with 33W fast charging to keep the large cell manageable in everyday use.
The display is another highlight – a large 6.9-inch LCD panel with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. Out of the box, the Poco M7 Plus 5G ships with Android 15-based HyperOS 2, ensuring modern software and support for the latest features.
Photography enthusiasts will find a 50MP main rear camera alongside a secondary sensor, while the front-facing 8MP lens handles selfies and video calls. The device also comes with an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security, and support for expandable storage via microSD card.
However, the decision to release a 4GB RAM option in 2025 has sparked debate. Many users argue that 4GB feels outdated when most entry-level phones now ship with at least 6GB or 8GB RAM. For heavy multitaskers, gamers, or those who rely on intensive apps, the 4GB variant may feel limiting. On the other hand, this model clearly targets budget-conscious buyers who value battery life, display size, and 5G connectivity over raw performance. With storage starting at 128GB and Poco’s optimization, it may still be sufficient for light users who focus on streaming, social apps, or basic communication.
In essence, the Poco M7 Plus 5G (4GB) carves out a niche in the Indian market as an affordable big-battery 5G smartphone. While the RAM choice is divisive, the overall package – from battery longevity to smooth display – ensures it won’t be ignored.
