vivo is preparing to shake up the smartphone photography scene with its upcoming X300 Ultra, and the latest leaks suggest this device could redefine mobile imaging standards. 
According to trusted insider Digital Chat Station, the X300 Ultra will become the world’s first smartphone to feature not one but two massive 200MP Sony sensors – one dedicated to the primary camera and the other powering its periscope telephoto system.
The primary shooter will reportedly employ Sony’s IMX09E, a cutting-edge 1/1.12-inch sensor built on a 22nm process with 0.7µm pixels. This hardware is paired with advanced “Hybrid Frame HDR” technology, a combination of Dual Conversion Gain (DCG) and Voltage Scaling (VS). Together, these technologies improve low-light detail capture, enhance highlights in bright conditions, and provide a remarkable dynamic range exceeding 100dB
. The sensor is also capable of lossless in-sensor zoom at 2x and 4x, offering optical-quality results without relying on digital tricks. Autofocus performance is enhanced thanks to a 2×2 on-chip lens (OCL) design, ensuring crisp shots even in challenging conditions.
Meanwhile, the periscope lens of the X300 Ultra won’t be left behind. It will utilize the IMX09A sensor, a variant specifically tuned for long-range telephoto performance. This module is expected to feature a hybrid lens assembly made of both glass and plastic, balancing image clarity with compact design. While exact differences between the IMX09E and IMX09A remain unclear, together they set the stage for groundbreaking telephoto and zoom photography that few rivals can match.
The camera setup doesn’t end there. vivo plans to equip the X300 Ultra with a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, ensuring versatile coverage across all shooting scenarios, from expansive landscapes to group portraits. On the front, selfie enthusiasts will find a 50MP camera with autofocus support, promising professional-grade detail for self-portraits and video calls alike.
Interestingly, vivo’s X300 Pro, the sibling device, will chart a slightly different course. Instead of dual Sony modules, it will integrate a customized 200MP Samsung sensor for its periscope system. The Pro model is also tipped to sport the Sony LYT-828, a 50MP 1/1.3-inch sensor, as its main camera, aiming for a balance of resolution and efficiency rather than chasing the dual-200MP approach of the Ultra.
