Ready or Not, the intense first-person tactical shooter from VOID Interactive, has officially cemented itself as one of the most successful independent launches in recent years. The studio announced that the console versions of the game have now surpassed three million units sold since their July 15 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S – an astonishing figure considering this milestone was achieved in less than two months.
Ready or Not Surpasses 13 Million Sales, 3 Million on Consoles
To put it into perspective, the game had already crossed the two million mark within its first two weeks on consoles, signaling momentum that few debut titles ever manage to capture.

When combined with its PC sales, the total count climbs to an impressive 13 million units worldwide. The PC audience accounts for over ten million of those sales, fueled by the game’s lengthy two-year early access period where it cultivated a dedicated following. Cross-play functionality has only strengthened the community, allowing tactical squads to form regardless of platform. For many players, this seamless integration has been key in building a player base that feels more like a living, breathing ecosystem rather than siloed groups.

Yet success has not come without controversy. In order to ensure parity between the PC and console editions, VOID Interactive recently introduced a series of changes that sparked heated debates among longtime PC players. Most notably, post-mortem dismemberment was disabled, though dismemberment of living characters remains intact. Other tweaks included altering or toning down sensitive mission details: the convulsing girl in Twisted Nerve now appears to be sleeping, nudity in A Lethal Obsession has been adjusted, female hostages in Hide and Seek now wear underwear, and similar clothing adjustments were made in Narcos. Even mission objectives such as 23 Megabytes a Second were reworked to better align with narrative continuity in later missions.

These alterations sparked a clash of perspectives within the community. While some players argue that such edits dilute the game’s raw and unsettling atmosphere – one of the qualities that made it stand out in the first place – others defend the changes as necessary compromises for wider accessibility and consistency across platforms. What cannot be denied, however, is that Ready or Not continues to dominate charts and conversation alike. Whether you see VOID Interactive’s adjustments as concessions or refinements, the sheer success of the title proves there’s a massive appetite for its unique blend of realism, tension, and squad-based strategy.
