Acer has officially pulled the curtain back on four new additions to its Iconia family at IFA, unveiling the Iconia X12, X14, A14, and A16.

These tablets are clearly designed to cover a wide spectrum of users, from those seeking a premium OLED experience to buyers who want sturdy, versatile devices at a more accessible price point.

The Iconia X12 sits at the top of the lineup with a 12.6-inch AMOLED display at 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, powered by MediaTek’s Helio G99 chipset. It’s also the only model that supports stylus input, making it the most creative-friendly device of the bunch. Acer is offering an optional keyboard case with this tablet, positioning it as a hybrid for work and play. Rounding things out are a 13MP rear camera, Wi-Fi 5 connectivity, Bluetooth 5.2, and a healthy 8,000 mAh battery.

The Iconia X14 scales things up with a larger 14-inch OLED panel at 1,920 x 1,200 resolution. It swaps in the Allwinner A733 chip but gains Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 for faster connectivity. Like its siblings, it includes quad speakers and Android 15 with new AI tools such as AI Super Resolution for cleaner video playback and AI Smart Sensing gesture controls. Both the X12 and X14 also feature expandable storage via microSD slots, something productivity-focused users will appreciate.

The more affordable A14 and A16 models take a slightly different approach. Available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes respectively, they use IPS LCD panels and integrated kickstands for a more laptop-like stance. While they share the same Allwinner A733 chipset as the X14, they keep the balance with a 5MP front and 8MP rear camera setup, 8GB RAM, and 256GB of onboard storage. The familiar 8,000 mAh batteries ensure all-day usability. They lack AMOLED or OLED tech, but Acer is clearly aiming these at students and everyday consumers who prioritize practicality over premium visuals.

On the pricing front, Acer seems aggressive. The Iconia X12 starts at $320/€280, while the X14 comes in slightly higher at $350/€260, both expected in November. The A14 begins at $300/€260 and the larger A16 will sell for $340/€300, with availability pushed to January 2026. This strategy signals Acer’s intent to carve out share in both the value and mid-tier segments of the Android tablet market, offering features like AI enhancements that are usually reserved for more expensive devices.

Still, Acer’s naming strategy is confusing at first glance, and the choice of Allwinner chipsets in most models has raised eyebrows among tech followers. While AMOLED and OLED panels are making their way into more mainstream devices, Acer’s decision to stick with IPS for its larger A-series may feel like a compromise. Yet, given the competitive pricing, the new Iconia lineup might strike the right balance for many buyers seeking flexibility without breaking the bank.
