Yooka-Replaylee Reinvents the Classic for PS5, Xbox, Switch 2, and PC

Playtonic Games is giving its cult-favorite platformer a second life this fall with Yooka-Replaylee, a bold reimagining of Yooka-Laylee.

The revamped title officially launches October 9, 2025, across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Rather than a simple remaster, this new edition is being pitched as a full reinvention. Expect refined movement and camera controls, a completely overhauled soundtrack, a redesigned map system, fresh collectibles, and brand-new isometric platforming challenges that replace the minigames from the original release. Story elements are also being retold, with new beats added to enrich the adventure.

For returning players, the good news is that owners of the first game can upgrade at a 30% discount on the $29.99/£24.99/28,99€ digital price. Collectors can also snag a physical edition for $49.99, which comes bundled with bonus extras exclusive to retail.

Playtonic studio director Gavin Price described the project as the version they always dreamed of: “It’s bigger, brighter, bolder, and packed with the little touches we wished for.” Meanwhile, PM Studios’ CMO Ami Blaire praised it as a true reinvention, the kind of release that reignites passion for platformers.

With so many elements rebuilt and expanded, Yooka-Replaylee feels less like a remaster and more like a creative do-over. Fans and newcomers alike will soon discover just how much this second take reshapes the original when it launches in October.
