Xiaomi 16 Series Brings Three Flagships with Faster Charging

Xiaomi is shaking up its flagship lineup this fall with three new models: the Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max.

Unlike previous years, when the company launched just two flagships before rolling out the Ultra later, this year’s strategy adds an extra twist. The Ultra is still planned for a later date, but the trio arriving next month will set the stage with faster charging and Qualcomm’s latest silicon.

Certification filings in China confirm that all three devices will feature 100W wired charging – a step up from last year’s 90W limit on the Xiaomi 15 series. While the improvement may seem modest on paper, it keeps Xiaomi in line with its rivals pushing past 100W speeds.

Under the hood, the lineup is expected to debut Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor, with Xiaomi tipped to be the first brand to announce phones powered by the new chipset. Rumors suggest the reveal could come just days after Qualcomm’s own event in late September, positioning Xiaomi as an early mover for 2025 flagships.

The Xiaomi 16 and 16 Pro will reportedly share a more compact display size, while the Pro steps up with higher-end features. The 16 Pro Max, on the other hand, seems designed to play in the same big-screen territory as Apple’s Pro Max branding – a naming choice already sparking debate among fans. As for international availability, Xiaomi’s global release is still expected early next year, though it remains unclear which models will make it beyond China.

What’s clear is that Xiaomi is no longer content with the traditional two-device fall launch. By expanding the lineup and leaning into Apple-inspired naming conventions, the brand is signaling its intent to compete not just on hardware specs but also on perception. Whether consumers embrace the “Pro Max” moniker or mock it as derivative remains to be seen – but Xiaomi’s fall lineup is shaping up to be one of its most ambitious yet.
