Xiaomi has officially confirmed that its next-generation operating system will be called HyperOS 3, putting to rest earlier speculation that it might debut under the name HyperOS 26. The new version will be built on Android 16, marking a significant step forward for Xiaomi’s custom software.
The company announced via Weibo that HyperOS 3 will be unveiled on August 28 at a dedicated event in China. 
According to Xiaomi’s president Lu Weibing, the update will bring noticeable improvements to the system’s smoothness and responsiveness – though details of these optimizations remain under wraps until the big reveal.
Right after the launch event, Xiaomi plans to roll out the first HyperOS 3 beta to select devices. Early access will be available for flagship smartphones and tablets, including the Xiaomi 15 series, Redmi K80 Pro/Ultimate Edition, Pad 7S Pro 12.5, and the Pad 7 Pro, starting in China.
Interested users will be able to sign up through Xiaomi’s Community Internal Test program to try out the beta ahead of the wider rollout. With Android 16 as its foundation, HyperOS 3 could redefine Xiaomi’s ecosystem experience and bring fresh competition to the Android market.
