Roblox Breaks Record with Over 47 Million Concurrent Users

In a groundbreaking achievement, Roblox has surpassed even Steam’s concurrent user record on gaming platforms, hitting an impressive 47.3 million active users on August 23, 2025, at 8 AM Pacific Time. This marks a remarkable increase of 6.1 million users over the previous Steam record of 41.2 million set back in March.

Roblox’s surge in popularity shows no signs of slowing down, as it builds on its prior peak of 32.7 million concurrent users, which was set just a month earlier on July 19.

This new milestone for Roblox is a testament to its unstoppable growth, nearly two decades after its launch in 2006. What’s more, the majority of users were engaged in just two games – Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot – which together accounted for an overwhelming 77% of the total user count. These games have become some of the most popular titles on the platform, further fueling Roblox’s rise in the gaming world.

Leading the charge is the idle farming simulator, Grow a Garden, which broke records with 22 million concurrent players. Developed by a teen developer known as BMWLux and further enhanced by Splitting Point Studios and Do Big Studios, Grow a Garden lets players cultivate flowers, fruits, and vegetables on their virtual land. They can sell their produce for in-game currency, Sheckles, which can be spent on seeds, tools, and other in-game assets. Seasonal events and quests also reward players with exclusive items, adding to its appeal.

Steal a Brainrot, on the other hand, has captured the interest of 15 million concurrent players, proving that Roblox offers more than just farming simulations. In this unique tycoon game, players steal “Brainrots” from one another to amass wealth and power. The goal is simple but competitive: defend your Brainrots while trying to snatch others’, with the ultimate aim of controlling the most Brainrots. This game, developed by SpyderSammy and do_small in collaboration with Do Big Studios, presents a thrilling, high-stakes experience.

Despite the success Roblox is experiencing, it’s not without controversy. Earlier this month, the state of Louisiana filed a lawsuit against Roblox, accusing the platform of being a haven for sex predators and lacking adequate safety measures to protect its younger audience. While the lawsuit casts a shadow over Roblox’s achievements, its continued success shows that the platform is still a dominant force in the gaming landscape.
