Samsung’s First XR Headset: Project Moohan Launch Date, Price, and Availability Revealed

Samsung is gearing up to release its much-anticipated first XR headset, codenamed Project Moohan, on September 29. This comes after earlier reports hinted at the same launch date, and now a new report from South Korea confirms it. The device will make its debut at a Galaxy Unpacked event, with South Korea being the first country to get hands on the headset. Sales are set to begin on October 13 in the region, with global availability rolling out gradually thereafter.

Price-wise, the headset will be priced between KRW2,500,000 and 4,000,000 in South Korea, which translates to roughly $1,790 to $2,865, depending on the model. While this is considerably cheaper than Apple’s Vision Pro, priced at $3,499, Samsung is betting that the headset’s value will resonate with consumers looking for an entry-level mixed-reality experience.

The report further suggests that Samsung is planning to ship around 100,000 units of Project Moohan in 2025. This ambitious goal will be closely watched, as the company looks to make a mark in the growing XR space.

I’m so confused with these terms. AR, MR, XR, VR… it’s all too much to keep track of!
