Squanch Games isn’t giving up on its dream of bringing Danny DeVito into the world of High on Life.

After previously failing to land him as Gene Zaroothian in the first game, the studio now has its sights set on something even wilder: casting DeVito as a gun in High on Life 3.

Speaking to IGN at gamescom 2025, chief creative officer Mikey Spano admitted the team had once lacked the clout to sway the Hollywood legend. “We tried to get Danny for the first game, but at that time we just didn’t have the pull. Now, after two games, I think we have a shot.” Spano says he’s already visualized the perfect DeVito-inspired weapon, and he’s desperate to make it real.

Executive producer Matty Studivan recalled why the plan didn’t take off before: “The feedback was basically, ‘his agent won’t even bring it to him, he probably won’t get what this is.’ But next time, we’re not holding back.” Both insist they’ll push harder when it’s time for the inevitable third entry. Spano even sent a public message: “Danny DeVito, reach out! We’re ready for ya!”

Before any of that, Squanch has High on Life 2 to deliver. Launching February 13, 2026, the sequel lands on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, hitting Game Pass on day one. The cast includes Ralph Ineson as Sheath, a new villainous boss, alongside Betsy Sodaro, J.B. Smoove, and Richard Kind.

The original High on Life became a breakout success, one of the biggest Game Pass debuts ever, and even spun off a TV show in 2024. With the sequel already lined up and the studio publicly campaigning for Danny DeVito, fans are left imagining the chaotic brilliance of a DeVito-voiced gun shouting insults while blasting enemies.
