Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A17 5G in the UK, positioning it as one of its most affordable 5G smartphones of 2025. Available through Samsung’s UK website and Amazon, the device comes in black, blue, and grey, priced at £199 (around $270/€230).

On paper, the Galaxy A17 5G offers decent mid-range specs. It’s powered by the Exynos 1330 chipset and runs Android 15 with One UI 7.

The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display supports FullHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, paired with a 13MP selfie camera in the front notch. On the back, the triple-camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor, a 5MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro lens.

The phone packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 25W fast charging, alongside extras like a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, IP54 splash resistance, and a microSD card slot supporting up to 2TB of storage. However, the most debated aspect is its single configuration: 4GB of RAM with 128GB storage. Many argue that in 2025, 4GB RAM is simply not enough for a smooth long-term experience, especially at nearly £200. Critics suggest Samsung priced it higher than it should be, given that budget-conscious buyers can find older mid-range phones with 6GB or 8GB RAM for a similar price.

For casual users who prioritize display quality, battery life, and Samsung’s software support, the Galaxy A17 5G could still be appealing. But for power users and multitaskers, its limited memory may prove frustrating sooner rather than later.
