Disney fans are about to get a brand-new treasure at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom: the Beak and Barrel Tavern, a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed dining and entertainment experience opening August 29.
Inside Disney World’s New Pirates of the Caribbean Tavern: Beak and Barrel
This immersive space feels less like a restaurant and more like stepping into the world of Disney’s legendary pirate lore, complete with Easter eggs, interactive moments, and a mischievous parrot named Rummy who channels the spirit of the original Barker Bird from the classic attraction.

The tavern is divided into themed areas, each brimming with detail. The Cursed Bar glows under a massive skull centerpiece and even holds an enchanted bottle of rum gifted by Tia Dalma. When the bottle mysteriously runs dry, chaos erupts in true pirate fashion. Nearby, the sleepy but stylish black cat, Kat, keeps watch with gold hoops in her ears, while the walls hide clues and props for eagle-eyed fans.

The Captains’ Quarters mix elegance and pirate grit, complete with carved wooden panels that tell seafaring stories and a fireplace surrounded by ship-in-a-bottle battles. For those wanting a quieter escape from the rowdy antics, tucked-away seating offers a more relaxed perspective without missing the showmanship of Disney’s cast members acting as rowdy rogues. Meanwhile, the Mapmaker’s Room is anchored by a massive table and even a cannonball lodged in the wall from an old pirate dispute, alongside a treasure map pointing toward mysterious Florida landmarks.

The tavern isn’t only about the spectacle – food and drinks are part of the storytelling. Beverage Director Stephanie Dold highlights the Siren’s Whisper, a vivid blue rum cocktail inspired by the Fountain of Youth and topped with a magical ‘siren tear.’ On the food side, Chef Bobby Rivera presents Kraken’s Catch, an audacious dish featuring an octopus tentacle with bold accompaniments. Other offerings include shareable Island Provisions with tropical dips and the playful Treasure Trove dessert, capped by the delightfully cold cups that seem almost enchanted.

Though themed as a pirate’s tavern, the Beak and Barrel is meant for families as much as for swashbucklers at heart. Imagineering executive Ken Ricci emphasized that the venue was designed so kids and adults alike can live inside the Pirates of the Caribbean story, not just ride through it. Guests will be limited to 45 minutes per visit, but the tavern is packed with so many secrets and recurring activations that repeat visits are sure to uncover something new each time.

Between the Haunted Mansion-inspired parlor and now the Beak and Barrel, Disney is clearly investing in deeper, story-driven environments where fans can linger, explore, and laugh together. It’s more than just dining – it’s another layer of magic stitched into one of Disney’s most beloved worlds.
