The highly anticipated Gamescom 2025 Awards were dominated by none other than Capcom’s latest gem, Resident Evil Requiem, which snatched up multiple top prizes. As always, the Gamescom Awards aim to honor exceptional games, expansions, exhibitors, booths, merchandise, and trailers, all voted on by an independent jury.
However, this year, one title managed to steal the spotlight.
Resident Evil Requiem was the clear frontrunner, clinching four major wins: Best Visuals, Best Audio, Most Epic Game, and Best Sony PlayStation Game. Its performance truly outshone the competition. Only a few other games walked away with multiple accolades. Indie title Hela earned wins for Most Entertaining and Most Wholesome, while Anno 117: Pax Romana claimed Best PC Game and Best Booth, with Ubisoft also receiving recognition for the stunning Anno 117 booth.
Notably, the public voted for the Best Trailer category, where Hollow Knight Silksong earned the top prize, reflecting its immense fan following. While these four titles dominated the evening, many other games also received recognition in various categories.
The full list of winners and nominees included an array of standout titles. For Best Visuals, nominees included Borderlands 4, Bye Sweet Carole, and MIO: Memories in Orbit, but it was Resident Evil Requiem that came out on top. The Best Audio category featured Carin, Little Nightmares III, and Phantom Blade Zero, with Resident Evil Requiem again taking the crown.
As for gameplay, Donkey Kong Bananza was awarded Best Gameplay, while the Most Entertaining award went to Hela. For Most Epic, Resident Evil Requiem triumphed, cementing its dominance across several categories. Meanwhile, Hela also secured the Most Wholesome award, alongside Tiny Bookshop, which took home the Games for Impact prize.
Several games found their place in the spotlight as well, with Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World fighting it out for Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game, and Arknights: Endfield winning Best Mobile Game. Anno 117: Pax Romana’s impressive showing earned it the Best PC Game title, alongside praise for its booth, while Capcom’s Best Lineup win was another feather in its cap.
The event’s awards also included some unique categories, such as Best Booth (Consumer Voted), which went to Pokemon Company, and the Best Merch (Consumer Voted), awarded to Star Birds’ Gacha Machine. The public also showed their love for Hollow Knight Silksong, which won Best Trailer.
Overall, the 2025 Gamescom Awards proved that Resident Evil Requiem is not just a fan favorite but a clear leader in this year’s gaming landscape, with several other titles earning their moment in the limelight.
