Samsung is preparing to unveil its first tri-fold smartphone later this year, and fresh leaks have given us a glimpse at how multitasking will work on the device. According to details shared by SamMobile, the phone’s standout feature will be something Samsung reportedly calls Split Trio.
This will let users open three full-sized app windows simultaneously, side by side, whether in portrait or landscape orientation. It’s a more ambitious take on multitasking than we’ve seen on traditional foldables.
Another clever addition is the ability to mirror up to three home screen pages from the outer cover display onto the larger inner panel, making the transition between screens seamless. This approach suggests Samsung is trying to make its tri-fold more than just a hardware novelty – the software is being shaped to match the extra screen real estate.
As for the device itself, rumors point to an expansive 10.1-inch folding screen on the inside, paired with a 6.54-inch cover display. The tri-fold is expected to weigh around 298 grams and could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. On the photography front, a triple-camera system is anticipated, though details about lenses remain under wraps.
What Samsung will actually call the phone is still up in the air. Current whispers suggest names like Galaxy G Fold or Galaxy Z TriFold. Whatever branding sticks, it’s clear the company is aiming to push foldable innovation into new territory – though some skeptics are already dismissing it as flashy copycatting of Huawei’s earlier concepts.
