The Redmi Note 15 series has officially debuted in China, but as usual, the global market will see a slightly different version of the flagship Note 15 Pro+. According to early firmware findings, the international edition won’t carry over the 50MP telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom that appears on the Chinese model. Instead, global buyers can expect a more modest dual-camera setup – a main wide sensor paired with an ultrawide, dropping both the telephoto and the macro shooter.
This shift follows the same playbook Xiaomi used last year with the Redmi Note 14 Pro+, which lost its extra lens options when leaving China.
The move is likely a cost-cutting or market-specific strategy, but it also risks disappointing photography enthusiasts hoping for more versatile zoom options.
Another change comes under the hood: the battery. The Chinese model boasts a hefty 7,000mAh cell, while the global Note 15 Pro+ will scale down to 6,500mAh. To balance things out, charging speeds are set to improve, with 100W fast charging globally compared to 90W in the Chinese version. So, while you lose some endurance, topping up will be quicker.
It’s still unclear if Xiaomi will mirror its strategy from last year, when India received the same configuration as China while Europe and other regions got trimmed-down models. Either way, expectations are high, and fans are already debating whether Xiaomi is holding back too much on its global lineup.
