Netflix has finally dropped the first teaser for Devil May Cry: The Animated Series Season 2, and fans are already buzzing. The short clip doesn’t reveal much, but it promises the long-awaited clash between Dante and Vergil – a showdown that was teased at the end of Season 1. The release window has also been confirmed: sometime in 2026.
The series, produced by Adi Shankar (best known for Castlevania), adapts Capcom’s legendary action game franchise.
Season 1 introduced viewers to Dante’s demon-slaying world, mixing stylish action with the thorny bond between the twin brothers. Season 2, according to Shankar, will turn things up several notches. “Dante levels up. His skills improve, and you’ll see more of the iconic badassery fans expect,” he said, while emphasizing that the story will still focus on growth rather than just spectacle.
Fans of the first season praised its dark tone, energetic fights, and memorable soundtrack – with many pointing out the inspired use of classic tracks that gave episodes an unexpected punch of nostalgia. While some critics found the story predictable, the series earned a solid 8/10 in reviews, cementing itself as one of the stronger game-to-anime adaptations of recent years.
Shankar is keeping busy beyond Devil May Cry. He has multiple Netflix projects on the horizon, including Castlevania: Nocturne, an Assassin’s Creed series, and even an animated PUBG show. He also recently acquired rights to develop a Duke Nukem adaptation. But for fans of demon hunters and brotherly rivalries, it’s the Dante vs. Vergil battle that has everyone marking their calendars for 2026.
