The Honor Magic V Flip 2 has officially launched, and it’s already rewriting the rules for clamshell foldables. With a massive 5,500 mAh battery – the largest ever in a flip phone – Honor is making endurance its biggest selling point.
The phone has debuted in China, and while global availability is still uncertain, the specs alone are enough to turn heads.
Powering the Magic V Flip 2 is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. It’s not the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Elite seen on 2025 rivals like the Motorola Razr Ultra, but it remains a top-tier processor capable of handling anything modern Android users throw at it. The device pairs this chip with 12 GB of RAM or 16 GB in its limited edition, alongside up to 1 TB of storage.
The displays are equally impressive: a 6.82-inch OLED main screen with 120Hz refresh rate and eye-searing brightness up to 5,000 nits, plus a 4-inch cover display with 120Hz and 3,600 nits. Both bring smooth visuals and practical outdoor usability. Honor has also loaded its software with AI tools like Circle to Search, AI Live Translation, and Smart Reply, enhancing everyday interactions.
Photography is another highlight. The Magic V Flip 2 boasts a 200 MP main camera with dual stabilization, a 50 MP ultra-wide, and a 50 MP selfie lens. Compared to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 with 50 MP, 12 MP, and 10 MP sensors, Honor’s setup is in a completely different league. AI-powered features such as Super Zoom up to 30x, Passers-by Eraser, and Reflection Remover add to its versatility.
Honor isn’t ignoring style either. The brand partnered with designer Jimmy Choo for a luxury limited edition in crystal-inspired blue. Standard variants arrive in purple, white, and grey. With interactive cover animations, AI deepfake detection, and enhanced durability – including aerospace-grade titanium hinges, a 50μm UTG inner display, and IP58/IP59 resistance – this device positions itself as both a smartphone and a fashion accessory.
Running MagicOS 9.0.1 based on Android 15, the Magic V Flip 2 even offers smooth cross-platform file sharing with iOS devices. It will be available in China starting August 28, with pricing details yet to be revealed.
