Apple is reportedly preparing to release a new iPhone accessory aimed at redeeming the failures of its previous FineWoven cases. After discontinuing the much-criticized FineWoven line just a year ago, the tech giant seems poised to launch its next iteration of premium iPhone cases.
Leaked images hint at a new material called ‘TechWoven,’ which might be the next big thing for Apple’s accessory lineup.
The latest leaks come from renowned leaker Majin Bu, who shared images of product packaging that suggest the case will be called the ‘TechWoven Case.’ These images reveal a textured material, which looks to be rougher compared to the FineWoven fabric that failed to impress consumers. Much like its predecessor, TechWoven could become Apple’s premium alternative to the leather cases, a product the company discontinued as part of its initiative to go carbon neutral by 2030.
Rumors suggest that TechWoven might be crafted from recycled plastics, potentially repurposed from plastic bottles, aligning with Apple’s sustainability goals. If the leaks are accurate, the new case could come in a variety of colors, including Black, Brown, Blue, Green, and Purple.
Another significant revelation from these leaks is the mention of a ‘Crossbody Strap’ on the packaging. This suggests that Apple could be launching its own first-party lanyard accessory for the iPhone 17, perhaps a crossbody strap that allows users to wear their phone comfortably around their torso. This accessory may also double as a wrist or neck strap, giving users versatile options for carrying their devices.
The introduction of a lanyard system isn’t exactly groundbreaking, as other companies like Peak Design and Samsung have already tapped into this market with their own accessories. Peak Design, for example, has created an entire ecosystem around its Everyday Case with an anchor link system, while Samsung offers cases like the Standing Grip Case for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, featuring a unique sliding grip that doubles as a kickstand.
It remains to be seen whether Apple will improve upon its previous attempts with the FineWoven cases. While some are hopeful that the company has learned from its past mistakes, the truth is that multiple third-party companies already offer great accessories, including lanyards and grips. Nonetheless, Apple fans will likely be curious to see if TechWoven can live up to the hype.

Apple making recycled plastic cases? That’s actually a win for the planet, but is it worth the price? 🤔
Apple fanboy here… I’m cautiously optimistic but not holding my breath
Crossbody strap sounds cool but I’m not sure about this whole TechWoven thing. 🤷♀️
I really hope these are better than the FineWoven cases, those were a joke 🤦♂️
