Squanch Games came to Gamescom 2025 with a bombshell: High on Life 2 is officially launching on February 13, 2026, across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S – with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass.

Alongside the date reveal, the studio showcased a 42-minute gameplay demo that confirms just how much bigger and stranger the sequel has become.

Set five years after the chaotic events of the original, the sequel begins with a bizarrely straightforward mission: assassinate a corrupt senator who wants to convert humans into pills via his pharmaceutical empire. But of course, the story quickly spirals into darker, more personal territory. Players soon discover a bounty on their own sister, unraveling a conspiracy that challenges the bounty hunter’s entire place in this warped universe.

The new footage highlighted the game’s most radical shift: movement. The skateboard isn’t just a gimmick – it has replaced much of the traditional traversal system, letting players grind, jump, and dash through ConCon, a planet bizarrely composed of interconnected floating conventions. Combined with the studio’s trademark absurd humor, it creates an even more surreal backdrop for combat and exploration.

Weapons and environments are also receiving a major upgrade. The arsenal looks more varied and unhinged than ever, while the expanded locations promise far more verticality and weirdness compared to the first game. Judging by the demo, Squanch has clearly invested more budget and ambition this time around. The big question is whether High on Life 2 can balance its trademark comedy with genuinely engaging gameplay, something fans felt the 2022 title struggled to deliver.

Whether you adored or rolled your eyes at the humor in the first game, this sequel is shaping up to be louder, faster, and far stranger. The countdown to February 2026 has officially begun.
