At Gamescom 2025, Broken Mirror Games and Skybound Games confirmed that their debut project, I Hate This Place, will officially launch on November 7, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The announcement arrived with a fresh trailer that leaned heavily into the game’s striking retro horror aesthetic, drenched in eerie neon and sharp isometric visuals straight out of the ’80s.
Despite being newcomers – Broken Mirror Games was founded just last year, and this is Skybound Games’ first publishing project since its creation by Bloober Team in late 2023 – the team is aiming high.
Early gameplay footage suggests a brutal mix of survival and action mechanics wrapped in a moody, stylized presentation that already has players taking notice.
For anyone lucky enough to be in Cologne this week, the title is playable on the show floor at Arena Hall 10.1, Stand A:044. While only a handful of trailers have surfaced so far, the buzz is that I Hate This Place could be one of the boldest horror debuts of the year – whether you’re drawn in by the throwback vibe or cautiously skeptical about its polarizing art direction.
