After years of silence, Team Cherry has finally hinted at a breakthrough moment for Hollow Knight: Silksong.
The studio announced a “special announcement” scheduled for August 21 at 7:30 AM, sparking widespread speculation that this long-awaited sequel is about to step into the spotlight.
Excitement is running high because the timing comes right before Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, where Geoff Keighley himself teased Silksong’s appearance just yesterday. Combined with the fact that Silksong is playable on the Gamescom show floor and confirmed for launch in 2025, fans are convinced this is the moment we finally get a release date – or perhaps something even bigger.
Some optimists believe a shadow drop could be possible, dropping the game without warning. With the ROG Xbox Ally launching October 16 and Silksong confirmed for the system, the puzzle pieces line up for a release that could land sooner than expected.
For context, Silksong was first revealed back in 2019 as a DLC concept for Hollow Knight before expanding into a full sequel. In the years since, it has repeatedly disappeared and resurfaced, fueling both hope and frustration within the fanbase. Now, six years later, anticipation has reached fever pitch. Many fans are cautiously optimistic but can’t shake the feeling that this time, Team Cherry won’t leave them hanging.
Whether it’s a concrete release date, a surprise launch, or just another teaser, one thing feels certain: Silksong is finally breaking free of its cocoon. After years of memes, doubts, and endless waiting, the dream may soon become reality.
