Sony and Sucker Punch have officially confirmed that Ghost of Yōtei will expand with a free Legends multiplayer DLC launching in 2026. 
The announcement arrived during gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 alongside a brief but stylish trailer that teased ominous new artwork and promised more details in the future.
Following in the footsteps of Ghost of Tsushima, Legends returns as a cooperative experience built around two-player story missions and four-player survival challenges. This time, players will face off against monstrous, demonic versions of the feared Yōtei Six, alongside a roster of new supernatural foes. Four distinct character classes will be available, encouraging varied playstyles and teamwork.
While the trailer revealed little beyond atmosphere, Sony shared concept art that hints at the darker tone of this new adventure. Senior Communications Manager Andrew Goldfarb stressed that the studio is holding back deeper details until closer to launch, though the promise of survival matches and story-driven missions should reassure fans who invested countless hours into the original Legends mode.
The announcement has sparked a mix of excitement and skepticism within the community. Some players are thrilled at the return of a beloved feature, while others worry about whether missions will adapt for solo play or if the combat will honor the precise stances that defined Tsushima. There’s also frustration over content arriving post-launch, a common debate in today’s AAA gaming landscape. Yet the strong legacy of Ghost of Tsushima Legends has many convinced that Yōtei’s take will be worth the wait.
