At Gamescom 2025, CI Games finally pulled the curtain back on Lords of the Fallen II, revealing its debut cinematic trailer. The sequel to the 2023 Soulslike hit is still locked in for a 2026 release across PC (exclusive to the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Players can already wishlist the title on all platforms.

The first Lords of the Fallen sold over 2 million copies and drew in 5.5 million players worldwide, something CEO Marek Tyminski attributes to the strength of the community. In his statement, Tyminski stressed that the new installment is being shaped around a ‘player-first’ philosophy, doubling down on feedback and promising a more refined and brutal journey.

Among the announced features, some sound familiar while others are direct responses to fan requests. Expect two interconnected realms to explore – the living world and the expanded, more punishing Umbral. Full online co-op progression will be available from day one, while optional PvP and custom modifiers give players flexibility. Combat remains uncompromisingly violent, with executions, gore, and a hard-earned mature rating. Built in Unreal Engine 5, the game promises the same grim visual style but upgraded for next-gen hardware.

To mark the announcement, CI Games went all in with a macabre flourish at Gamescom: a “Tattoo Sanctum” where fans could get free franchise-inspired tattoos (permanent or henna). Those not attending can enter a sweepstakes for a one-of-a-kind painting of The Scion by Maxime Taccardi – created using the artist’s own blood. It’s a fittingly grotesque tribute to the series’ tone.

While the game itself wasn’t playable on the show floor, anticipation is already boiling. With its expanded features, community-driven design, and a flair for the theatrical, CI Games clearly wants Lords of the Fallen II to stand as the franchise’s defining chapter – a Soulslike sequel with ambitions as towering as its Gothic world.
