Apple’s second-generation Vision Pro is gearing up for a serious performance leap, with the latest leak confirming that the bulky headset will ditch its M2 chip for the far more capable M5. Discovered in Apple’s code by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris, the change lines up with long-standing rumors pointing to a late 2025 release. 
While the design won’t slim down this time around, the heart of the upgrade lies in pure processing power and efficiency.
The M5 chip, built on a more advanced silicon process, promises faster computation, improved graphics, and better thermal control. Efficiency gains should translate to longer battery life and reduced heat during heavy workloads like multitasking and 3D rendering-two pain points for many current Vision Pro owners. Apple is also rumored to be working on a more comfortable strap to make extended use less tiring.
For many, this is the classic second-gen sweet spot: enough time for Apple to iron out early issues while delivering a real performance jump. That said, don’t expect a design revolution until component costs drop and miniaturization tech catches up.
