Some Galaxy S25 Ultra owners testing the latest One UI 8 Beta 4 are spotting a strange cosmic glitch – the Moon turns purple in their photos. The bug doesn’t affect shots in real time; in the camera preview, the Moon looks normal. But once the photo is processed, it morphs into an alien-hued violet. 
It’s been reported across multiple zoom levels – 10x, 20x, 30x, even the epic 100x – and disabling Scene Optimizer hasn’t helped.
This quirk hasn’t been seen on One UI 7 or other stable builds, which makes it almost certain that the issue stems from Samsung’s image processing in the beta. Oddly, not every device on Beta 4 is affected, which could make it trickier for Samsung to prioritize a fix. While that’s good news for some testers, it also means the bug might fly under the radar until late in development.
Beta software is, of course, prone to these oddities – it’s part of the risk and the fun for early adopters. Still, the purple Moon is more amusing than alarming. It’s a reminder that beta builds are for those willing to laugh off glitches while waiting for the polished release. Here’s hoping Samsung’s engineers zap this bug before One UI 8 goes stable, so the Moon can return to its familiar shades of white and gray – not the set of a sci-fi flick.
